Have you ever used code virtualizer or vmprotect to protect from reverse engineering?

I know that there is no way to fully protect our code. I also know that if a user wants to crack our app, then he or she is not a user that would buy our app. I also know that it is better to improve our app.. instead of being afraid of anticracking techniques. I also know that there is no commercial tool that can protec our app.... I also know that.... Ok. Enough. I've heard everything. I really think that adding a little protection won't hurt. So.... have you ever used code virtulizer from oreans or vmprotect? I've heard that they are sometimes detected as virus by some antivirus. Any

How to skip a line doing a buffer overflow in C

I want to skip a line in C, the line x=1; in the main section using bufferoverflow ; however, I don't know why I can not skip the address from 4002f4 to the next address 4002fb in spite of the fact that I am counting 7 bytes form <main+35> to <main+42> . I also have configured the options the randomniZation and execstack environment in a Debian and AMD environment, but I am still getting x=1; . What it's wrong with this procedure? I have used dba to debug the stack and the memory addresses: 0x00000000004002ef <main+30>: callq 0x4002a4 **<function>** **0x00000000004002f4** <main+35>: movl $0x1,

How do I copy-protect my Java application? [closed]

I want to sell my Java application using PayPal. When a payment is received, the customer is mailed a one-time download link to my application. My question is, how do I prevent people from sending the .jar file to their friends/uploading it on the internet? Obviously I need some kind of check in the application which only allows it to run on one computer. And that's another problem, I don't want a customer to have limitations on one computer, they should be able to run it at home and work etc. Maybe some kind of cd-key would do the trick? Is there any cd-key resources for Java out there? Or

My dad called me today and said people going to his website were getting 168 viruses trying to download to their computers. He isn't technical at all, and built the whole thing with a WYSIWYG editor. I popped his site open and viewed the source, and there was a line of Javascript includes at the bottom of the source right before the closing HTML tag. They included this file (among many others): http://www.98hs.ru/js.js <-- TURN OFF JAVASCRIPT BEFORE YOU GO TO THAT URL. So I commented it out for now. It turns out his FTP password was a plain dictionary word six letters long, so we think that's

Decrypt MD5 hash [duplicate]

Possible Duplicate: Is it possible to decrypt md5 hashes? Is there any way to decrypt the encrypted MD5 string, given the key? Try Google (see Using Google To Crack MD5 Passwords ) or an online DB of MD5 hashes like md5(); or GDATA (the last one contains 1,133,766,035 unique entries). Asaph MD5 is a one-way hash . It cannot be decrypted. The closest thing to decrypting an MD5 hash would be to do a lookup against a pre-generated rainbow table . Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "I have the key". There is no "key" in an MD5 hash. Perhaps you are thinking of a salt? If your data has a salt

How to protect .Net exe from Decompiling/Cracking

I am really sad because a few days ago we launched our software developed in .Net 4.0 (Desktop application). After 3 days, its crack was available on the internet. We tried to protect the software from this but somehow people got away cracking it. Here is the scenario: When the application launches the first time it communicates with the web server and checks the credentials passed by the user. If the credentials are correct, the software saves the values in the Registry, sends the MachineID back to the server and stores it in the database. Now, the hacker has replaced the Server communication
