问题 We have a project with many developers. Some use Visual Studio 2008 Professional with TFS Client, others use Visual Studio 2008 Team System. We have checkin policies that there should be a comment and it should be connected to a work item. Some of the developers with Visual Studio 2008 Professional are getting the following error: Checkin cannot proceed because the policy requirements have not been satisfied Even if the conditions have been satisfied. For a while we were also getting this on

How do I get a list of Team Foundation Server Servers available on my PC?

问题 I need to get Team Foundation Server list programmatically with C#. This is needed for the TfsTeamProjectCollection object. 回答1: I had a scan through the documentation and couldn't find anything useful. I believe @samy is correct and there is no discovery mechanism. However if you are running this on a client machine that already has established connections to TFS then there is a history of servers stored in the registry: Visual Studio 2008 location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft

Can I use Team Explorer to merge changes between two branches after an initial baseless merge?

问题 My understanding of a baseless merge in TFS was that it was a one-time deal, and merges afterwards could be made without having to be baseless: from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bd6dxhfy(VS.80).aspx /baseless - Performs a merge without a basis version. That is, allows the user to merge files and folders that do not have a merge relationship. After a baseless merge, a merge relationship exists and future merges do not have to be baseless. However, I tried it this evening with the

Disable automatic generation of datasources file when updating service references

问题 We have a large solution with many service references and each time we need to update a service reference some .datasource files are generated. The problem with this is that these files have very long names and break the build process since the server that builds the solution can't handle such long names. As now we need to open up the servcice reference and manually delete the .datasource files. We don't have the rights to setup a rules blocking the files from checking which means that the

Build order and dependencies not preserved on upgrade from VS 2008 to 2010 with msbuild

I'm in the process of upgrading our VS 2008 solution to run on VS 2010 I managed to successfully build in VS 2010 My next step now is to configure a build machine running TFS 2008 Whenever I start a build it does my projects in alphabetical order with no regard for dependencies. I've googled a lot and I can't seem to find a solution to this. The closest solution to my problem is found here: msdn link which links to this: dependency solution However I'm dealing with 129 projects, so I would really rather not do this all manually in the xml. Has anyone been able to effectively remap the

How can I check which branches a TFS 2008 changeset has been merged into?

问题 I have some changesets in a TFS 2008 branch which were not merged back into trunk. Time has passed, and now no-one is entirely sure which changesets have made it into trunk. I understand that TFS 2010 allows you to see graphically which branches a changeset has been merged to, but how can I find this out in TFS 2008? 回答1: I think all you can you do is use the TF merge command to determine which changesets have not been merged into another branch - one branch at a time. tf merge /recursive

How to access “Custom” or non-System TFS workitem fields using PowerShell?

When using PowerShell to extract information from TFS, I find that I can get at the standard fields but not "Custom" fields. I'm not sure custom is the correct term, but for example if I look at the Process Editor in VS2008 and edit the Work Item type, there are fields such as listed below, with Name, Type and RefName: Title String System.Title State String System.State Rev Integer System.Rev Changed By String System.ChangedBy I can access these with Get-TfsItemHistory: Get-TfsItemHistory "$/path" -Version "D01/12/10~" -R | Select -exp WorkItems | Format-Table Title, State, Rev, ChangedBy

TFS2008 to TFS2010 migration upgrade

问题 All, I'm currently in the process of attempting to create a repeatable process for the upgrade of a TFS 2008 installation to new hardware in what Microsoft call a migration upgrade, but am experiencing issues when building the VS 2008 projects on the new hardware. Our TFS 2008 installation consists of two machines; one which houses the SQL databases and Application Tier, and the other which acts as a dedicated Build Server. The new hardware for our TFS 2010 installation consists of two
