I'd like to disable screen saver while my appliction is running. How it can be done? Where is the best place to disable / enable the screen saver? in the first activity? in the application.java? The wake lock permission must be specified in the manifest. <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WAKE_LOCK" /> Then in the activity use the following to keep the screen on while the activity is running. getWindow().addFlags(LayoutParams.FLAG_KEEP_SCREEN_ON); Remember that unnecessarily keeping the screen on unnecessarily drains power from the user's device. You must also add: import

How do you start the user's selected Daydream programmatically?

On my Galaxy Nexus, I can tap this button in system preferences to start my currently selected daydream. Is there a way to reproduce this functionality in an app via Intent? I don't have a daydream service, but I would like to allow the user to start their preferred daydream. Jacob Tabak Edit 9/22/2014: This does not work on some Samsung phones I figured out how to do this by digging through some Android source code. final Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_MAIN); intent.setClassName("com.android.systemui", "com.android.systemui.Somnambulator"); startActivity(intent); Sample app

问题 Like there is a WallpaperManager class in android. Is there is any class in android for getting Lock screen drawable ? So that i can set that Lock screen drawable as a background image in my application's screen lock. 回答1: As of API 24, WallpaperManager now has two new methods: getWallpaperFile and getWallpaperId . You can pass in WallpaperManager.FLAG_SYSTEM for the system wallpaper or WallpaperManager.FLAG_LOCK for lock screen wallpaper. But again, this is only supported in API 24. [EDIT]

How to programmatically dismiss the screensaver/lock screen on Android (Nook Simple Touch)

I wrote a simple alarm-clock style application that I run on my (jailbroken) Nook Simple Touch (aka NST), under Android 2.1. When the scheduled alarm time arrives, my application needs to wake up the NST and display a page of HTML content. I use AlarmManager to get a callback at the right time, and it seems to work as expected -- almost. The problem occurs when enough idle time has passed that the NST has activated its lock-screen mode (i.e. it is auto-displaying a caricature of a famous author). I can't find a programmatic way to dismiss the lock-screen so that my HTML content will be visible

How do I control the screensaver name shown in the drop down list?

I have a working screensaver and would like to figure out how I can control the name Windows displays in the screensaver drop down list. Currently it all seems to be based on the filename but I know that can't be the case. Here's what I've tried and the results: Filename: CC.Votd.scr ScreenSaver Name: Cc Filename: CC Votd.scr ScreenSaver Name: Cc Votd I'd like to have the file be named CC.Votd.scr and have the screensaver name display as CC.Votd (capitalization is important to me so even CC Votd would be ok :-)) I'm pretty sure this is possible because the Photos screensaver is

How to invoke the screen saver in Windows in C#?

I'd like to invoke the user's screen saver if such is defined, in a Windows environment. I know it can be done using pure C++ code (and then the wrapping in C# is pretty simple), as suggested here . Still, for curiosity, I'd like to know if such task can be accomplished by purely managed code using the dot net framework (version 2.0 and above), without p/invoke and without visiting the C++ side (which, in turn, can use windows API pretty easily). I've an idea, I'm not sure how consistently this would work, so you'd need to research a bit I think, but hopefully it's enough to get you started. A

How to install screensaver programmatically?

How to install (register) screensaver programmatically? AFAIk there are two ways: Permanent registration by copying it to a location that windows searches, such as System32 . But don't hardcode "C:\Windows\System32". You need to query the system to find out where the system directory is. Calling the Install action on the .scr file, which results in temporary activation. But the screensaver will disappear once another has been selected and the dialog restarted. But this is from Win95 times, so it's possibly outdated. I see three ways to call install : ShellExecute(Ex) using the install verb
