I have an image map of 3 polygons. The actual image hotspots are complex shapes consisting of multiple curves and edges. <img src="/images/map.gif" alt="HTML Map" border="0" usemap="#map"/> <map name="map"> <area shape="poly" coords="74,0,113,29,98,72,52,72,38,27" href="index.htm" alt="area1" /> <area shape="poly" coords="22,83,126,125" href="index.htm" alt="area2" /> <area shape="poly" coords="73,168,32" href="index.htm" alt="area3" /> </map> I've created a duplicate of map.gif called map_over.gif rendered in a different color. how to visualise/debug an imagemap?

I'm dynamically generating an imagemap for a chart tool I have. I was hoping to be able to set a border or color on the area tags so I could check everything was being generated with the right coords, but a little research shows this is not possible. So whats the easiest way to check my image map is correct? Are there any browser tools which will "visualise" the areas? What about using JavaScript (and jQuery) to test it? http://davidlynch.org/js/maphilight/docs/demo_usa.html This plugin will highlight image map areas. You can use FireBug for that: Right-click your image and choose "Inspect

Create a map with clickable provinces/states using SVG, HTML/CSS, ImageMap

I am trying to create an interactive map where users can click on different provinces in the map to get info specific to that province. Example: http://www.todospelaeducacao.org.br/ http://code.google.com/p/svg2imap/ So far I've only found solutions that have limited functionality. I've only really searched for this using an SVG file, but I would be open to other file types if it is possible. If anyone knows of a fully functioning way to do this (jQuery plug-in, PHP script, vector images) or a tutorial on how to do it manually please do share. jQuery plugin for decorating image maps

Resize image map on window resize

I'm trying to resize an image map on window resize event. The closest I've gotten is to use a mouseclick event, but it needs to be window resize for what I'm doing. I'm using Firefox 3.5.5 I'm using jquery somewhat. Here's my example - the area button I want to resize on window resize is in the top left (click on it to resize map and area button): http://www.whitebrickstudios.com/foghornstour/imagemap3.html Any help would be appreciated! Thank you, Rich Viktor Sanzharevskyy I wrote some simple function to rebuild all map points on every event. Try this function mapRebuild(scaleValue) { var map

<img src="circle.png" onclick="alert('clicked')"/> Let's imagine that circle.png is a 400x400 px transparent background image with a circle in the middle. What I've got now is that the entire image area (400x400px) is clickable. What I would like the have is that only the circle (non transparent pixels) are clickable. Of course I know that in this example I could use the <map> tag and a circular area, but I'm looking for a general solution which will take into consideration actual image transparency and work for any kind of images (i.e. non regular shapes). The most complex way I could see is

iPhone, Map, Clickable non-rectangular areas

Anyone have any ideas on how I could implement the following on the iPhone? We have a map of the US, and it has different regions (climate regions, I believe) that are different colors. They are not rectangular, and don't follow state or zip or county or any other defined lines. So, our areas a very round-y and not even necessarily contiguous. I would LOVE to give our users the ability to click on their region and I would be able to tell from where they touched what region it was, but for the life of me, short of making many many many rectangles to do a best fit on the curves, I can't figure
