Are all PDF files compressed?

问题 So there are some threads here on PDF compression saying that there is some, but not a lot of, gain in compressing PDFs as PDFs are already compressed. My question is: Is this true for all PDFs including older version of the format? Also I'm sure its possible for someone (an idiot maybe) to place bitmaps into the PDF rather than JPEG etc. Our company has a lot of PDFs in its DBs (some older formats maybe). We are considering using gzip to compress during transmission but don't know if its

Why is ScriptResource.axd compressed, even though IIS compression is disabled?

问题 I run an ASP.NET application on IIS 6.0. Usually I have compression turned on for both dynamic and static files. However, I've turned compression off temporarily, but "ScriptResource.axd" is still sent compressed. This does not feel like a misconfiguration, as "WebResource.axd" is not compressed. What is the difference between ScriptResource and WebResource, such that the former is still compressed? How is it getting compressed? Thanks. 回答1: Web Resources are handled by the

nginx - missing etag when gzip is used

独自空忆成欢 提交于 2019-12-30 06:12:12
问题 If I setup nginx to use gzip, it removes any etag header. The reasoning behind this is that the same resource cannot be byte-for-byte identical given that gzip has various compression levels. But nginx also removes a weak etag, which just means that the resources are semantically equivalent. This seems like incorrect behavior by nginx. Am I missing something? If not, is there a way to fix this? wiki 回答1: You should upgrade to nginx 1.7.3 or higher. Feature: weak entity tags are now preserved

gzip archive with multiple files inside

问题 I need to create a gzip archive with multiple files inside, how can I do this without ArchiveEntry available for java.util.zip.GZIPOutputStream class? 回答1: According to the Wikipedia entry on gzip : Although its file format also allows for multiple such streams to be concatenated (zipped files are simply decompressed concatenated as if they were originally one file), gzip is normally used to compress just single files. This is why GZIPOutputStream doesn't support ArchiveEntry . Normally,

gzipping up a set of directories and creating a tar compressed file

问题 My bash fu is not what it should be. I want to create a little batch script which will copy a list of directories into a new zip file. There are (at least) two ways I can think of proving the list of files: read from a file (say config.txt). The file will contain the list of directories to zip up OR hard code the list directly into the bash script The first option seems more straightforward (though less elegant). The two problems I am facing are that I am not sure how to do the following:
