问题 Suppose I have a partial dom tree with a parent node and a set of children. How can I interject a DIV between them? I am starting with parent --+--> child[0] |--> child[1] |--> child[2] ..and I want to end with parent ---> newdiv ---+--> child[0] |--> child[1] |--> child[2] How can I do this? I need the converse of replaceChild() . Is there something like replaceParent() ? I suppose I could clone all the child nodes, and then insert them as children in the new node. but... does that retain

z-index and javascript events

So I have a couple of divs overlaid on eachother with differing z-index values. The default behaviour for browsers seems to be the event bound to the top-most z-index div gets fired. Ie I have multiple onclicks one for each div but only the top one is fired when the area is clicked. Is there a way to fire the events attached to all divs no matter what the z-index of each is, so long as the action is 'over' that div without regard to z-index? The event doesn't actually occur on the element that is obscured by another unless the other element is contained in the first, then it will bubble up.

JavaScript library to create div-style window within page

Im trying to find out a good JavaScript library that can create a nice "inner-window" popup within a page on my site. I would like to not have to worry about screen positioning (i.e. dont have to calcuate if the size of the window will be off screen, etc...), but just make a new pop-up that has content in it. I'll be using .NET 3.5 ASP.NET (maybe MVC, havent started yet), I know JQuery has great support, but from what I have seen, it doesnt have this type of widget feature. Please note, I do not want to use "frames" in any way, shape, or form! But rather the floating div style approach (or

Prototype callback functions swallowing exceptions

Using Prototype version 1.6.0.2. I have a common problem where exceptions are being swallowed when they are thrown in a callback function, typically when I am trying to handle the response to an Ajax.Request call. Here is a simple example: HTML markup: <input type="button" id="myButton" value="Press Me" /> Javascript: MYSITE = {}; document.observe("dom:loaded", function () { // Set up our helper object MYSITE.pageHelper = new MYSITE.PageHelper(); }); MYSITE.PageHelper = function() { console.log("PageHelper called."); $("myButton").observe("click", this.makeCall.bindAsEventListener(this)); };
