How do I conditionally format a cell so if not blank it is grey? I tried to do 'not equal', but it didn't work. I am using Windows Office 2003 with Windows XP at work. I don't see the same feature as below: What I have tried so far: Edit: Figured what was wrong. In my production (actual work Excel), they were filled with white color. It wasn't my Excel file, so I was not aware of this before. You can use Conditional formatting with the option "Formula Is". One possible formula is =NOT(ISBLANK($B1)) Another possible formula is =$B1<>"" Does this work for you: You find this dialog on the Home

问题 I would like to know how to access the column in conditional formatting titled 'Applies To' and input my own conditions. I have included a screenshot for better reference. My code for adding the syntax in conditional formatting is, With Selection .FormatConditions.Delete .FormatConditions.Add Type:=xlExpression, Formula1:="=" & c.Address & "=TRUE" . . . End With I believe the code should be added in there but i just cannot find the correct syntax. Update : I updated my code to look like this,

Excel - Conditional Formatting - insert row

Using Offset or Indirect in 'Applies To' does not seem to work. Is there any other way to stop conditional formatting from breaking after inserting row/s I have a conditional format for a range for e.g. $O$19:$O$105. The condition is 'if cell value is > 10', it is formatted with red color. The problem is - when I insert a row in excel, this formatting range splits and I get 2 formatting rules. For e.g. the 2 rules with range as $O$19,$O$21:$O$105 & $O$20 respectively, if I insert a new row at 20th row. Typically for condition like the one above, it may not matter, if the rules are split into

I have data in the A and B columns. B column's data is mostly duplicates of A 's data, but not always. For example: A Budapest Prague Paris Bukarest Moscow Rome New York B Budapest Prague Los Angeles Bukarest I need to search the A column for the values in B . If a row matches, I need to change the row's background colour in A to red or something. Here is the formula create a new rule in conditional formating based on a formula. Use the following formula and apply it to $A:$A =NOT(ISERROR(MATCH(A1,$B$1:$B$1000,0))) here is the example sheet to download if you encounter problems UPDATE here is

Conditional formatting based on the previous cell in Excel 2013

I am trying to indicate improvements in the scores with the icon set of arrows. Since I have multiple columns each cell should be indicating incline or decline based only on previous cell. If I use a normal formatting provided by excel in the number order: 20,30, 40 Excel indicates that decline has been made with number 30 (arrow pointing downwards) however it should be indicated as increase. Can someone please help me? thank you for your time, review and answer. sancho.s There is a way to apply a conditional format based on other cells contents. This does not give you icons (as arrows), but

Conditional formatting: using row() inside indirect() inside and() doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?

Say I have set a value of 55 on cell B2. If it's value is 55, the cell's background color should be green. So I created a new rule using a formula by selecting "User a formula to determine which cells to format" and set the formula to the following: =B2 = 55 It worked, obviously. But because we don't want to hard-code the row because we are using this spreadsheet as a template in an application that generates more rows by simply copying that cell to another row, I set the formula to this one: =INDIRECT( "B" & row() ) = 55 And because we actually want two conditions and our requirement is not

VBA function to test if cell is conditionally formatted in Excel

I have written the function below to test if a cell has conditional formatting activated based upon the cell fill. Function cfTest(inputCell) If inputCell.DisplayFormat.Interior.Color <> 16777215 Then cfTest = True Else cfTest = False End If End Function It does not work however. Saying that, this method does. Sub myCFtest() Dim R As Integer R = 2 Do If Range("I" & R).DisplayFormat.Interior.Color <> 16777215 Then Range("K" & R).Value = True Else Range("K" & R).Value = False End If R = R + 1 Loop Until R = 20 End Sub Can anyone explain to me why the function will not work? Cheers. EDIT :

Excel - Copy Conditional Formatting, Remove Rules, Keep Format

I know you usually show what you've tried in a question, but this is more of a "Do you have a good routine that does this?" question and I'm hoping you'll be willing to let it slide... I'm working on a macro that copies cells that are conditionally formatted in a source worksheet and pastes them into an output sheet. Basically, I'm looking to keep all the formatting, shading, etc, but remove all the conditions (make the current formatting static) in the output sheet. I've seen some solutions online - ranging from copying it first to a word document and then pasting it back, to looping through
