问题 Good morning, all. This is my first question on stackoverflow, so hopefully this isn't something that's been beaten to death and I haven't been able to find it. I'm developing an application that is going to be distributed shrinkwrapped. We have gotten the rights to distribute SQL Server 2008 Express Edition with our application, but exactly HOW to do this is a little more difficult. Right now we're using a standard Visual Studio setup project, and I was obviously hoping for something very

Code analysis comes back with suggestion about not using “out” parameters

问题 I ran the VS 2008 code analysis tool against an object I created and received the following suggestion ... Warning 147 CA1021 : Microsoft.Design : Consider a design that does not require that 'returnValue' be an out parameter. I find "out" parameters rather useful and didn't realize that they were considered as a frowned upon design practice. I wanted to know if someone could shed some light on the reason that I received this Warning? If it is bad practice? why? and what would be good

Reset VS 2008 toolbars

问题 How do I completely reset my Visual Studio 2008 toolbar? Right now I have toolbars randomly appearing/disappering when I write code vs. debug. Is this expected behavior? I'd like to get it to a point where the same set of toolbars appears and sticks to their same position in the toolbar area. 回答1: You can also run one of the following commands (if you can't get it to work in the command line in VS, run the regular command prompt in Windows. As Admin, if you're running Vista...): "Mild"

问题 I have a windows setup project that installs a service. All works well except for one thing: The default directory offered to the user during install is of the form "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\ProgramName". I am trying to modify this so that instead of "Microsoft" we would have our company's name. I found the application folder property of the setup project, and it has a DefaultLocation property of "[ProgramFilesFolder][Manufacturer][ProductName]". So, it looks like all I need to do is set

问题 Is there a way to break the debugger when assertion is false and running the application using Visual Studio debugger. Earlier when I was debugging Windows application I would get an exception and the debugger would break, but now on Smart Device an assertion failed window is showed with stack trace, but I would also like to see variable values etc. 回答1: Stupid me, the solution was simple. When the window pops out, press pause in debugger :) 回答2: Not sure about VS 2008, but in at least 2010

I am using VS2008 at work with no plans to upgrade in the near future. I sorely miss the features of PowerCommands that I have for VS2010+. Here is the gallery but it references the archive. All of the old links point me to http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/PowerCommands which has been retired. I couldn't convince
