How can I get TFS 2010 to build each project to a separate directory?

In our project, we'd like to have our TFS build put each project into its own folder under the drop folder, instead of dropping all of the files into one flat structure. To illustrate, we'd like to see something like this: DropFolder/ Foo/ foo.exe Bar/ bar.dll Baz baz.dll This is basically the same question as was asked here , but now that we're using workflow-based builds, those solutions don't seem to work. The solution using the CustomizableOutDir property looked like it would work best for us, but I can't get that property to be recognized. I customized our workflow to pass it in to

Why does Tfs2010 build my Wix project before anything else?

问题 A similar question was asked and answered about a year ago, but was either a different issue (everything was in beta) or misdiagnosed. It's located here: MSbuild task fails because "Any CPU" solution is built out of order. My issue is that I have a wix installer project, and after upgrading to Tfs2010 on monday, the build fails on linking because it can't find the build product of the Wpf application in the project. After some digging, it's because it hasn't been built yet. Building in Vs2010

问题 I have a VS2010 solution, which includes several Windows Service projects. I need to deploy these services as part of a build in Team Build 2010, and the Windows Services have to be deployed on several Windows Server machines. How can I do this? 回答1: You could conditionally invoke the SC.exe command from your Windows Service project file (*.csproj) to install the Windows Service on a remote machine. Here's an example: <PropertyGroup> <DeployWinService>false</DeployWinService> <WinServiceName

Modular TeamBuilds

I have 3 TFS Builds (2 Dev and 1 Cert). I would like to modularize the builds so I don't have to edit 3 files each time I make a change to the common items. The problem I have is that Only the items in the build folder (under TeamBuildTypes) are automatically retrieved by the Team Build. I can put in code in my build process to get other files, but by then it is too late. Here is the scenario that I have. I make a "Common" location for common tasks. I then went and made changes to that file. Because the file does not down load until my build process tells it to down load it is retrieved too

TFS 2010/Code Metrics Integration, Automated Builds Fail, Code Metrics Don't Run

问题 I'm trying to add an automatic post-build trigger to run NDepend (code metrics software) after an automated team build in TFS 2010. NDepend's website provided code for integrating this capability, and so I have pasted their code into my .csproj file where they said for it to go, but I receive errors on the build. The errors refer to two of the three "BuildStep" tags I have in the code snippet. The following two snippets are giving me errors: <BuildStep TeamFoundationServerUrl="$

SDLC Mangement for TFS Build Scripts

问题 I'm in the process of developing several custom build scripts for TFS and I'd like to know if there are any best practices for developing, testing and deploying TFS build scripts. Do you setup development and QC environments that are seperate from the production build server? Are there other ways to isolate the process of developing the scripts from the rest of the build process so that builds scripts under development don't interfere with "production" builds? Team Build likes to create work

Running MSTEST.exe /publish on a TeamBuild server, what are the prerequisites?

Similarly to How to use MsTest in Continuous Integration without VS? , I want to run mstest.exe on a TeamBuild server. My context is Trapping Error Status in MSBuild - i.e., I'm only trying to use mstest.exe /publish to upload the results in to the TFS repository. Thus the full rigmarole in http://www.shunra.com/shunrablog/index.php/2009/04/23/running-mstest-without-visual-studio/ is (you'd hope) likely to be overkill, esp as MSTEST.exe, as covered in http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/tfsgeneral/thread/e4575890-8f88-413c-a7f3-0d09d3b9cb01 suggests all I need to do is install Team
