I can't find my git.exe file in my Github folder

问题 I downloaded Github for windows and installed it on my computer, which runs windows 7. I tried to open a project with Android Studio but it says "Can't start Git: git.exe" and "IDE error". When I click "Fix it" it shows: "Cannot run program "git.exe": CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file specified". So I googled and I tried to find git.exe file in my Github folder. In my Github folder there is two folders: one is a project shared by my friend and the other one is "Git1". In

Git workflow for lone developer (total git newbie)

问题 I have decided that it's time for me to start using Git on a PHP project that I have been developing casually for over a decade. (Please, no lectures from the version control police!) Due to the complex setup required on my VPS to do everything the project needs (esp. single-codebase-multiple-client structure and a Japanese-capable installation of TeX to create specialty PDFs), it is not possible to set up a development environment on my local Windows box. But I do have a testbed area on the

Changing repository description in git

问题 I'd like to change repository description of the project I'm working on but "Edit" button does not appear in GitHub web site. I use GitHub for Windows and provided shell. Although description is present on web site .git\description file has default contents and \description file is absent in root folder. Where is the description of the project is stored then if it is present on GitHub? I changed .git\description but the changes are not visible to the git status. How to change the project

can I use SourceTree and a GitHub app at the same time?

问题 As a novice, I prefer the simplicity of the GitHub app itself to work on our GitHub-hosted git project. However, to sync/push-and-pull another remote, I need to try SourceTree. (I am not confident enough to keep everything in the command line.) Can I use the GitHub app for most editing of my (main) local repo and syncing with GitHub.com, and only occasionally fire up SourceTree to sync (my main local repo, as a I cannot sync the github.com remote directly to another remote, can I?) with the

How to use GitHub for Windows 2.0 with non-GitHub repositories

问题 I just installed (as opposed to update) GitHub for Windows 2.0 and for the life of me I cannot find how to use it with non-GitHub repositories. In the past I have done this without issues using this guide. However with version 2.0 the layout has changed and I cannot find a UI to clone a repo that is not from GitHub. I guess I have to drop to the command line but I have no idea how to use git that way. 回答1: As you suggested, you can clone the repository with Git on the command line. To do so

Sometimes git tells me EVERY file is new and unstaged?

问题 I'll make a change to a file, go to the GitHub for windows UI. Commit my changes then hit the sync button. Then it says error, try using the shell instead. So I go to the shell and type git status . It tells me every file in the repo is new and unstaged. There's like 4,000 unstaged files. This has happened to me 3 times now, on 2 different computers, on different repos, and even when working alone. Is this a common bug? Sometimes I get a detached head out of nowhere, or a .lock file is

What are these icons by my commit

问题 I recently began working on project and I committed and pushed it using Github for Windows. But if you look at the .gitignore , there is a :camel: and a :boom: icon next to the commit. Are these of any purpose? They seemed to have been auto generated by Github for Windows. How can I add these icons to my own commits, and what other icons are there? EDIT Messing around github, I discovered that these are emoji's (http://www.emoji-cheat-sheet.com/), and that they are supported in Github's

Prevent GitHub for Windows from adding emoticons to my initial commit message

问题 I'm new to git, and to GitHub. I'm using the GitHub for Windows program on Windows 7 64-bit. What I dislike is that when I create a new local repository, the initial change where the .gitattributes file is added is given a commit message containing an emoticon (seemingly chosen at random). Here is a screencap of this problem in action: http://i.stack.imgur.com/sXVkv.gif The emoticon in the above example was "confetti ball": http://i.stack.imgur.com/ePYdv.png How do I prevent this emoticon?
