Why CalendarProvider doesn't allow writing ExtendedProperties?

Google calendar events have extended properties that can be used to attach name/value pairs to an event. We are implementing a collaborative calendar application that uses those extended properties to attach extra information to the event. As recommended by Google, we use the Android CalendarProvider to read and create new events. When we create a new event we need to add some extended properties to it but we just realised that the calendar provider doesn't allow writing CalendarContract.ExtendedProperties , if we try we get the following error: Only sync adapters may write using content://com

Store metadata outside of file: Any standard approach on modern Windows?

My C# app syncs files from a remote document management system to a filesystem. The document management system has metadata (date of last audit, secrecy, author...) which is associated with each file but not stored WITHIN each file. The files can be anything (bmp, xwd, pdf, unknown binary) I want to make these metadata visible on the local Windows filesystem. But I can't store metadata WITHIN each file. For instance, changing the secrecy of a file must NOT modify the checksum of the file. What is the best way to store this metadata? I have heard about NTFS extended file attributes , is it

I'm interested in getting more information from a file using python. I know that using os.stat (such as below) returns information on the file, but I'd like to get other attributes from the file such as 'Where from?' os.stat(filename) posix.stat_result(st_mode=33184, st_ino=131691855, st_dev=16777220L, st_nlink=1, st_uid=501, st_gid=20, st_size=174241, st_atime=1445046864, st_mtime=1445045836, st_ctime=1445045836) However, these aren't the attributes I'm interested. I'm interested in getting all of the below attributes (in particular 'Where from') How can I get the 'Where from' field? I've

Select Extended Property from SQL Server tables

问题 I am writing a simple CMS for a client's database. There are 12 tables and they need to manage all of the data in 4 of them. I set up a dynamic data project (Linq-to-SQL as that's what I'm most familiar with) and the first page makes all 12 tables available for edit as it should. These are in an enumerable list called visibleTables. Next I went into SSMS and created an extended property called UserEdit and set it to 0 or 1 depending on whether the user should see it on that screen. What I

Slow search for items using extended property on Exchange

Problem at hand Our C# Windows application uses EWS Managed API 2.0 to create appointments in a user's calendar. Each appointment has an extended property with a unique value. It later locates an appointment using FindItems and an ItemView . Users experience significant delays the first time this search is performed. Subsequent response times are entirely acceptable. ("first time" is a little vague here, because users may experience the delay again later in the day) // locate ID of appointment where extended property value equals 1234: var filter = new Ews.SearchFilter.IsEqualTo

I want to add some custom attributes in SqlServer connection string, something like this: Integrated Security=SSPI;Extended Properties="SomeAttr=SomeValue";Persist Security Info=False;Initial Catalog=DB;Data Source=SERVER And then get that attribute in sql. for example SELECT SOME_FUNCTION('SomeAttr') There is no generalized method to pass custom connection string attributes via Client APIs and retrieve using T-SQL. 问题 I\'m trying to find out how to read/write to the extended file properties in C# e.g. Comment, Bit Rate, Date Accessed, Category etc that you can see in Windows explorer. Any ideas how to do this? EDIT: I\'ll mainly be reading/writing to video files (AVI/DIVX/...) 回答1: For those of not crazy about VB, here it is in c#: Note, you have to add a reference to Microsoft Shell Controls and Automation from the COM tab of the References dialog. public static void Main(string[] args) { List<string>
