Since I'm not allowed yet to add comments to foreign questions:
In addition to the workaround described in DatePicker date doesn't switch with culture
(which really helped me) I would like to mention that the DatePiker (.net 4.6.1) also does not automatically take CurrentUICulture.DateTimeFormat.FirstDayOfWeek.
It has to be set per Datepicker instance indiviually.
