LocalDumps registry key stopped working (Windows Error Reporting)

问题 I set up the registry key, HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps as described on MSDN. I have a test program - a console program, compiled with Visual C++, that tries to dereference a NULL pointer before printing a message and exiting. The test program used to exit and dump a core file, but now it just exits. I get no core. I'm running Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise, SP1 on physical hardware. I don't know what changed. What could have changed that prevents WER

问题 I just want to find out which location does the WER write its dump file? Also is this location specific to OS? 回答1: The documentation for WER says you can set registry setting to control the dump location and the type of dump HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\DumpFolder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\DumpType Default value for DumpFolder is %LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps. 来源: https://stackoverflow.com

Save information from MS crash reporter?

问题 On Windows XP when a process crashes, we get a dialog box with a link: "To view technical information about the error report, click here." The "click here" link brings up a whole lot of information in a window, but no obvious way to save it to a file. Is there a way? It would be very nice to be able to send that data to several different external vendors we're working with. The only other option I see in the dialog box is to send it to Microsoft, but this crash is likely not Microsoft's fault

问题 i'm trying to figure out where Windows Error Reports are saved; i hit Send on some earlier today, but i forgot that i want to "view the details" so i can examine the memory minidumps. But i cannot find where they are stored (and google doesn't know). So i want to write a dummy application that will crash, show the WER dialog, let me click "view the details" so i can get to the folder where the dumps are saved. How can i crash on Windows? Edit: The reason i ask is because i've tried

Windows Error Reporting doesn't generate mini dump for a .NET 4 application sometimes

问题 I'm trying to diagnose a crash issue for a .NET 4 application. The last time it crashes in a user's machine, Windows Error Reporting doesn't gather the mini dump of the application. I've check the DumpFolder in registry, and I can find the dump files for old crashes, but there's just no new dump file for the last one. The event log of the crash says: Application: MyApp.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an internal error int the .NET Runtime at IP

How to crash a process on Windows-7 without getting the WER dialog?

问题 Is it possible to crash a regular user-mode process on Windows-7 without getting the Windows Error Reporting (WER) dialog? (When and if WER is normally enabled and no specific flags are applied.) Note: I'm not interested in disabling WER , I'm interested in crash scenarios where WER isn't launched although it should and Windows "silently" terminates an app. On Windows XP, it is pretty trivial to write a C or C++ application (in user mode) that messes up its own address space in such a way

Is there a .Net API for Windows Error Reporting

问题 Is there a .Net API for me to integrate Windows Error Reporting into my application? I'm mostly interested in initiating error reports even for non-catastrophic errors occurring in my application and all I could find is the WIN32 API. 回答1: It's not likely. WER isn't meant to be used by applications, its something that a user can choose to enable, and when (s)he does, all application crashes are turned into Windows Error Reports and sent to a central server. It's not something you turn on and
