First get a reference to the ConnectivityManager and then check the Wifi and 3G status of the device. You'll need the ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE permission to use this service.

    ConnectivityManager connManager = (ConnectivityManager) getSystemService(CONNECTIVITY_SERVICE);
