EditText editText = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.editText1);
editText.getVisibility();

this will provide the edittext is VISIBLE, INVISIBLE, or GONE.

if(editText.getVisibility() == View.VISIBLE){
   //.. your actions are performed here
}
