Use the openDrawer() method.

private DrawerLayout mDrawerLayout;

mDrawerLayout = (DrawerLayout) findViewById(R.id.drawer_layout);

mDrawerLayout.openDrawer(Gravity.END); // or whatever gravity the of the drawer you want to open
