Spark Implicit $ for DataFrame

Question

Where in the sqlContext.implicits._ does it define the $\"string\" to represent a dataframe call to the parent dataframe\'s column? Specifically I was confused

class SQLContext.implicits$.StringToColumn

Converts $"col name" into an Column.
