    This is App Nap. The display app can do the following to avoid napping:

    id activity = [[NSProcessInfo processInfo] beginActivityWithOptions:NSActivityUserInitiatedAllowingIdleSystemSleep reason:@"whatever"];
    

    When it can allow napping again, you should do:

    [[NSProcessInfo processInfo] endActivity:activity];
