Are you handling 1000s of strings per second? If not, you shouldn't really be too concerned.
Use double quotes if you want to use string interpolation (with variables, math, etc.)
You should also try and be consistent.
We should forget about small efficiencies, say about 97% of the time: premature optimization is the root of all evil.
