adb server version doesn't match this client

Question

Whenever I try to run adb devices:

            $ adb devices
            * daemon not running. starting it now *
            * daemon started su

If the device you're trying to interact with is a physical phone connected via USB, you can unplug it and plug it back and and it should work. Sometimes it just gets out of sync I think.
