All the above answers seems outdated. Here is the most modern solution taken from the official nbconvertdocs.

$ jupyter nbconvert --to FORMAT notebook.ipynb

The default output format is html, for which the --to argument may be omitted:

$ jupyter nbconvert notebook.ipynb
