A very simple solution is to put this code into your loop:

Put this in the body (i.e. top) of your file:

import sys

Put this in the body of your loop:

sys.stdout.write("-") # prints a dash for each iteration of loop
sys.stdout.flush() # ensures bar is displayed incrementally
