Starting from ECMAScript 5, a formal solution is :
Array.isArray(arr)
Also, for old JavaScript libs, you can find below solution although it's not accurate enough:

typeof value.length === 'number' &&
typeof value.splice === 'function' &&
!(value.propertyIsEnumerable('length'));
};
