    IOCP is pronounced "asynchronous I/O" on various UNIX platforms:

    • POSIX AIO is the standard
    • Kernel AIO, epoll and io_uring seem to be a Linux-specific implementations
    • Kqueue is the *BSD and Mac OSX implementation
