Why am I getting a \"401 Unauthorized\" error in Maven?

Had similar issue. Had to pin the maven deploy plugin to specific version in pom.xml:

    org.apache.maven.plugins
    maven-deploy-plugin
     2.8.2

This version is what broke my builds:
