CodeIgniter removing index.php from url

Question

My current urls look like this [mysite]index.php/[rest of the slug].
I want to strip index.php from these urls.

on your htaccess use this,

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /root_folder_name/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^system.*
RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|images|js|uploads|css|robots\.txt)
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L]
