The simple answer to your main question is No.
All casting happens at syntax checking time.
Casting affects how the syntax checker looks at the object,
it does not affect the object itself, a Child cast to be a
Parent, is still a Child.
However the cast is only checked at Runtime.
Which is why it is dangerous and should not be used
unless there is no other way.
