Is there a way to determine whether or not a given .Net Type is a number? For example: System.UInt32/UInt16/Double are all numbers. I want to avoid a long switc

    Type extension with null-type support.

    public static bool IsNumeric(this Type type)
        {
            if (type == null) { return false; }

            if (type.IsGenericType && type.GetGenericTypeDefinition() == typeof(Nullable<>))
            {
                type = type.GetGenericArguments()[0];
            }

            switch (Type.GetTypeCode(type))
            {
                case TypeCode.Byte:
                case TypeCode.SByte:
                case TypeCode.UInt16:
                case TypeCode.UInt32:
                case TypeCode.UInt64:
                case TypeCode.Int16:
                case TypeCode.Int32:
                case TypeCode.Int64:
                case TypeCode.Decimal:
                case TypeCode.Double:
                case TypeCode.Single:
                    return true;
                default:
                    return false;
            }
        }
