PHP - regex to allow letters and numbers only

I have tried:

preg_match(\"/^[a-zA-Z0-9]\", $value)

but im doing something wrong i guess.

You left off the / (pattern delimiter) and $ (match end string).

preg_match("/^[a-zA-Z0-9]+$/", $value)
