How to change the TimeSeries and TimeSeriesCollection to XYSeries and XYCollection respectively in java?

As both accept an XYDataset and both use an XYLineAndShapeRenderer internally, the essential step is to replace the ChartFactory:

// ChartFactory.createTimeSeriesChart(…);
ChartFactory.createXYLineChart(…);

The remaining changes substitute the XYSeries accessors/mutators and construct the GUI on the event dispatch thread.
