Why to use SVN? Any hidden pros (over GIT/Mercurial/Bazaar) there? [duplicate]

问题 This question already has answers here : Closed 9 years ago . Possible Duplicates: Why is git better than Subversion? I've already read a lot (not enough to get the perfect picture though) about versioning systems, and the obvious conclusion is that GIT is simply the best. Or Bazaar maybe. Or Mercurial. But if so it was, then nobody would be using SVN, but they still do. Why? I myself have no own opinion on what v.c.s. is generally the best yet because of lack of experience with them. Could

Perforce blame

问题 Is there an equivalent of svn's blame for Perforce on the command line? p4 annotate doesn't display usernames -- only changeset numbers (without ancestor history!). I currently have to track code back through ancestors and compare against the filelog, and there just has to be an easier way -- maybe a F/OSS utility? 回答1: Try taking a look at a couple of tools that I think could get you most of what you need: 1) p4pr Perl script by Bob Sidebotham and Jonathan Kamens. 2) Emacs Perforce interface

How to explicity tell SVN to treat a file as text, not binary

问题 I have a number of files that I checked into SVN without having set up their Mime types correctly. SVN initially classified them as binary. I've since set their Mime type in SVN via propset to "text/plain; charset=UTF-8" and I'vc made sure that all the files are UTF-8 signed. When I do 'svn blame filename', svn says that the file is binary and does not give me explicit blame-type output. Any suggestions on how to persuade SVN that these are truly text files? 回答1: Setting the svn:mime-type

git svn gatekeeper repository

问题 I have beem using git for quite some time now, mainly git-svn. Now I want to convince my colleagues to switch from svn to git. But unfortunaly the precondition is that the svn repository keeps on living quite some time. So I searched for an solution and came up with the book: Jon Loeliger's "Version Control with Git". I bought it and it is really good but I don't fully understand the guide to set up a git svn gatekeeper repo. In Chapter 16, he describes a situation in which there is a

Subversion marks unmodified files as modified

问题 Here's an odd problem I encountered using Subversion: when merging from a development branch to trunk (or back, for that matter) Subversion would mark a lot of files as changed -- while they had no changes. Here's what happens: In my branch I commit 1 modified file In trunk I merge in that commit Lots of other files and directories are marked as 'modified' without actually having been changed (not even whitespace, line endings, properties or that sort of stuff). Technically, committing these

How to display list of repositories from subversion server

问题 I'm looking for a way to search a whole subversion server. I already got a piece of the puzzle to search within a repository. Now I need to do this for every repository. Update: I have to access this list from some unix shell script (perl, bash, etc.) 回答1: I was also looking to list repositories in SVN. I did something like this on shell prompt: ~$ svn list https://www.repo.rr.com/svn/main/team/gaurav Test/ Test2/ Test3/ Test4/ Test5/ Test6/ 回答2: If you enable svn via apache and a

问题 I use Tortoise client to checkout/commit my changes to SVN. But I found this little difficult because I'm not able to find List of all files that are changed in my local copy. Is there any short cut or something that I overlooked? I'm new to SVN. FYI. 回答1: The "Check for Modifications" command in tortoise will display a list of all changed files in the working copy. "Commit" will show all changed files as well (that you can then commit). "Revert" will also show changed files (that you can

which eclipse project/workspace files should be added to source control?

问题 I want to share an eclipse project with the rest of my team through SVN. Which files should I add to subversion? In the workspace, there are many files which IMHO are not supposed to be on source control - they are a few megabytes in size. When adding just the project, another user who checks out the code still has to import the project into the workspace. Edit: maybe the correct question here, is how can I share my eclipse workspace using subversion? 回答1: With Eclipse, you always have to
