问题 I'm still working on my application that has to store RSS data localy. So far i managed to create a local database and parse the online RSS feed. I also managed to put this information in the database so now the app will also be available while being offline. However i can't seem to figure out how to do the following: I have 2 buttons, one of them reads the database titles and will go to a detailed page of your selection (still working on that) My current problem is that i can't seem to add a

Sax parsing and encoding

I have a contact that is experiencing trouble with SAX when parsing RSS and Atom files. According to him, it's as if text coming from the Item elements is truncated at an apostrophe or sometimes an accented character. There seems to be a problem with encoding too. I've given SAX a try and I have some truncating taking place too but haven't been able to dig further. I'd appreciate some suggestions if someone out there has tackled this before. This is the code that's being used in the ContentHandler: public void characters( char[], int start, int end ) throws SAXException { // link = new String

rss parser in .net

what's the best RSS reader for .net out there? most efficient and easy to use the ones i found are really complicated http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.servicemodel.syndication.aspx http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc135976.aspx .net has a class to parse ATOM and RSS feeds. Check out the links. What are you trying to do? Can you give more information? Alternatively You can just remove the "Feed version" from the XML file and parse it as a normal XML file using xmlDocument class. Simon Forrest Have you looked at the System.ServiceModel.Syndication namespace in .NET 3.5?

I have the following snippet of code: function getFeed($feed_url) { $content = file_get_contents($feed_url); $x = new SimpleXmlElement($content); echo "<ul>"; foreach($x->channel->item as $entry) { echo "<li><a href='$entry->link' title='$entry->title'>" . $entry->title . "</a></li>"; echo "<li>$entry->content</li>"; echo "</ul>"; } It works EXCEPT the $entry->content That part doesn't register. In the actual feed the tag is listed as <content:encoded> but I can't get it to feed. Any suggestions? In <content:encoded> , content is the namespace and encoded is the tag name. You have to use

Loading RSS feed with AJAX: alternatives to Google Feed API?

I've been using the Google Feed API to load RSS feeds, but it looks like Google has shut down the API. For instance, when I try to load the New York Times RSS feed at http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/services/feed/load?v=1.0&num=1000&q=http%3A%2F%2Frss.nytimes.com%2Fservices%2Fxml%2Frss%2Fnyt%2FHomePage.xml , I get this response: {"responseData": null, "responseDetails": "This API is no longer available.", "responseStatus": 403} Are there any viable alternatives? Use Yahoo's YQL API : select * from xml where url = 'https://news.ycombinator.com/rss' You can request a JSONP feed by adding a

问题 Apple provides an RSS feed for their marketplace. Is there something similar for Android? I mean something similar to http://itunes.apple.com/us/rss 回答1: I don't believe there is such a thing available for Android Market. If you really need it, I suppose you could use pages like the following and parse the content: https://market.android.com/details?id=apps_topselling_paid Far from a brilliant solution, but I think it's probably one of the best available at the moment. 回答2: I was looking for

问题 when retrieving and caching/saving (in a database) some posts from an rss feed, how to determine that: it is the same post (example: when some typos are fixed in the feed or if the title changes, the date changes, etc...) find feeds that talk about the same topic (example: same story from different sources) are there any best practices for these things? thnx a lot 回答1: Some RSS feeds have a guid element as an identifier.
