How to convert .xcarchive to .ipa for client to submit app to app store using Application Loader

We have created the .xcarchive file code signing with our client's certificate & distribution provisioning profile, but we need to send the .ipa file to our client so that they can upload the app to the App store using Application Loader. The only way to create the .ipa file in Xcode 4.5 is clicking Distribute -> Save for Enterprise or Ad-Hoc Deployment which has a description underneath saying "Sign and package application for distribution outside of the iOS App Store". If we save the .ipa file this way, will it cause any problem submitting to the app store? Or is there a proper way of

Convert existing iOS paid app to freemium model with in-app purchase

I currently have a paid app in the store. Apple have not allowed a 'lite' version to be submitted as well, so I have no choice but to update the current paid version to a freemium (with in app purchase) model. I have the problem of not loosing functionality for v1 users that have purchased the app the first time round. Is there any way to determine if an application have been updated from a previously installed version so I can unlock the paid parts of the app? Two similar questions (from a few months ago): Transition an existing paid for app to free version with In App Purchase iPhone +

Appstore as modal view in iOS6

I noticed that when the user taps an app store link in the iOS6 mail app , mail opens a modal view representing the app store instead of switching to the App Store app as it did in previous versions. Does Apple provide access to this capability, or it is exclusive to their integrated programs? Note: If you have iOS 6 and want test it, just open appstore and email app to yourself. I added this method as a category to UIViewController, but you can repurpose it for your own needs. The app store ID is the big number in the app store URL. Make sure you import the StoreKit framework and header file!

iOS app submission and beta review process

I'm currently developing an iOS application for a client. The submission review process to the store can often be a lengthy process and is relatively new to me. My client wants to do a beta test using TestFlight as well as submitting the app to the app store afterwards, through XCode and Itunes Connect . Scouring Apple's documentation I can't seem to get a good idea of following: If I want to update an existing application on the store do I have to go through the review process again in full? If I have my app approved for beta testing release through TestFlight, is this taken into

I'm searching a solution to get all the information/retrieve all data from the iTunes «App Store» and «Mac App Store» from Apple to a given App-ID … Is there a way to read out all the infos like App-Description, Price, Icon, Developer, Ratings etc. from the Stores? Try using the iTunes Search API which will give you a nice JSON object representing the app. The lookup section is the one you are looking for: https://affiliate.itunes.apple.com/resources/documentation/itunes-store-web-service-search-api Example query for the Stack Overflow App : https://itunes.apple.com/lookup?id=1155618808 You

How do you prompt the user to rate your iphone app without waiting for them to delete the app?

I am referring to the popup window that asks the user to submit a review/rating. I know it can be done since the Aardark app does it...it asks several times in fact! (Almost too spammy.) But there has to be an API to trigger the rating request? Google is giving me no love on this one. I would check out the Appirater project that Arash Payan has put together. Pretty much handles the checking and displaying of the "rate my app" prompt, and brings the user right into the review portion of your app on the App Store. It's a very clean, and elegant way to provide that minimum barrier so that your

Mac App Store Receipt Validation Code?

Wondering if anyone has a tutorial or working code for the new Mac App Store's receipt validation? About the only references I've been able to find so far are Apple's stellar documentation on the topic and one open source project which compiles but doesn't have a lot of inline comments so it's hard to understand unless you are a crypto whiz. Apple docs for registered devs only: https://developer.apple.com/devcenter/mac/documents/validating.html Roddi's ValidateStoreReceipt (looks promising, but sparsely documented): https://github.com/roddi/ValidateStoreReceipt Also wondering why Apple does

Pre-release checklist before building final version for App Store

Curious what practices people have learned before making their final build and submitting to the App Store? Aside from switching from Debug to Release & commenting out calls to NSLog what other basic and/or not so basic things should we be watching out for? progrmr This is a good question and I'd like to restate some of the answers and add a few of my own. I've made this answer Community Wiki, feel free to add to it. Delete the app from your device, turn off WiFi, off cellular data, now install and test app. Does it work properly (as much as it can without Internet)? Does it at least tell the

问题 I just got an Email this morning saying my Application (Fuel+) is Ready for Sale. So I "Rushed" to my iPhone and typed Fuel+ in the App Store Search to not find my Application not there. Why is my App in iTunes Connect Preview but not in the App Store Search Menu. (This is my first App in the App Store.) 回答1: It takes a while (less than a day) for the App Store to index your application in the search engine. Also, app listings on the app store are ranked based on popularity (number of
